Do i need to reset charge cycle count after battery replacement?

I had a faulty AC adapter run up the charge cycle count on my battery. Thus, it no longer accepts a charge. I've been running solely on AC for over a year now, but finally decided to replace the battery. What steps are necessary to reset the count after replacing the battery?
